Frequently Asked Questions

Terms & Conditions

What is your Covid-19 cancellation policy?

We follow the guidelines set by Gîtes de France who manage all of our bookings. If you are unable to fulfil your booking for one of these two reasons we will happily move your booking to another date (you only pay any difference in rates for the dates to which you move) or Gîtes de France will refund your booking in full (minus any insurance or admin fee):

  • The borders between your home country and France are closed to vacationers, or
  • Either your home country or France are subject to lockdowns preventing you from travelling.

What are your Terms & Conditions?

Our Terms & Conditions are dictated by Gîtes de France who handle all of our bookings. Those terms and conditions can be seen online here.

What if I need to cancel?

Our terms and conditions are dictated by Gites de France who handle all of our bookings. We recommend that all of our guests take out appropriate insurance before they make their booking. Here is the relevant section of those terms:

Cancellation by Guest: Any cancellation must be communicated by registered letter to the booking service.
a/   You have cancellation insurance: you should refer to the refund conditions specified in the insurance contract.
b/   You do not have cancellation insurance: for any cancellation by the Guest, a refund will be issued by the booking service, excluding booking fees, as follows:

  • cancellation up to the 21st day inclusive before the start of the stay: the amount of the deposit, corresponding to 25% of the rent, will be retained, along with all booking fees and any charges for cancellation insurance that may have been taken out; in addition, if the Guest so chooses 25% of the amount of all services directly associated with the holiday as appearing on the Fact Sheet and the balance will be refunded if it has been collected as of the cancellation date.
  • cancellation between the 20th day and the 8th day inclusive before the start of the stay: 50% of the amount of the rent and of the services directly associated with the holiday, if the Guest has chosen any, will be retained;
  • cancellation between the 7th day and the 2nd day inclusive before the start of the stay: 75% of the amount of the rent and of the services directly associated with the holiday, if the Guest has chosen any, will be retained;
  • cancellation on the day before or on the arrival date originally specified in the contract, or no-show: no reimbursement will be made.

Suitability

Is your gîte suitable for everyone?

La Source Tranquille is a converted out-building and as such has very high ceilings downstairs which means fairly steep stairs up to the bedrooms. We therefore don’t recommend the gîte if you struggle with stairs. Unfortunately this also means it is not suitable for those who use wheelchairs.

Do I need a car whilst staying with you?

Not necessarily! We have many shops within a 5 minute walk including bakers, a butcher, a small supermarket (it’s a 20 minute walk to the hypermarket) and a couple of restaurants. We do have parking next to your gîte so you could quite happily drive to us, park the car and not need it again until you leave!

We are a 10 minute walk from the local train station at Mouy (we’d be happy to collect you if you arrive with bags) and the train provides a regular service to both Beauvais and Paris (although the last train home from Paris to Mouy itself is before 19h – you’d have to get a taxi from Creil – 15 minutes away).

Is your gîte suitable for children?

Most definitely yes! We have a large garden with plenty of room to run around, a trampoline and a football goal as well as a games room next to the gîte with table tennis, baby-football and darts. There are even our cats to play with! Within a 20 minute drive of the gîte there are plenty of things to do for children too, including swimming, horse riding and numerous theme parks.

However, we also have a stream running through the garden, as well as a shallow pond fed from the spring (La Source Tranquille!). Whilst the stream is fenced off to a degree it would be very easy for a very small child to climb through, or to fall in the pond. For that reason whilst we welcome guests of all ages we must stress that children must be attended at all times and not just left on their own in the garden.

Are pets allowed?

We welcome small, well behaved animals to La Source Tranquille. We do have cats ourselves who share the garden so ask if your dog likes to chase cats, that you keep it on a leash when in the garden. We also ask that animals are kept off the furniture and that they do not go upstairs in the gîte as they may scratch the wooden floors.

The garden is fully enclosed by walls but there is a stream and a pond (our “source”) that may be very attractive to your pets, There are some great walks from the gate though which your dog would love!

Extras

Can you offer babysitting?

We will do our best to find you a babysitter should you wish to go out for an evening but obviously can not offer any guarantees! We do have a couple of people in the village we can call on and we may be available ourselves. Please let us know as early as possible should you wish us to look for a babysitter for you.

Are there any extra charges?

Our rental rates are all-inclusive so there are no hidden charges waiting for you when you check out. The rate includes rental of the gîte, all water, electricity and heating costs, towels and bedding, the only extra is a 60€ cleaning fee. If you are staying for longer than a week we will offer you clean bedding and towels after one week. The rate you pay will also include a small booking fee levied by Gîtes de France who handle all of our bookings.

We do ask for a security deposit (as specified by the Gîtoise booking service) which would go towards any damage to items in the gîte. We also reserve the right to levy a charge should you leave the gîte excessively dirty on departure, and we would also charge you should you fail to return the keys or the ‘bip’ for the electric gates when you leave.

Can you provide food?

Gîtes are offered on a strictly self-catering basis – we do not have the necessary qualifications to provide meals. However, we would be happy to go shopping for you if you send us a shopping list in advance of your arrival. There would be a charge of 10€ for this service.

We are within a 5 minute walk of a local supermarket which is perfect for essentials and we have 5 bakers and 1 butcher in the village who will be happy to supply you! There are also a couple of restaurants within walking distance as well as various takeaway options.
