Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is just over an hour away from us here in Mouy, making it easy to go there for the day. Having opened in 1992 the park, actually two with both Disneyland and Warner Bros parks, is now the most visited attraction in France, with over 15 million people visiting a year. The two parks cover an area of 19 km2 with around 60 different attractions. The themes of these attractions will be familiar to anyone who has been to a Disneyland park before. Top rides include Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain and there are rides for all ages in the differently themed "lands". There are special events throughout the year including a Halloween Festival, Enchanted Christmas and the Summer Time festival. At the end of each day there is a parade down Main Street, normally culminating in a firework display. One special treat, which needs to be reserved, is to book dinner in the main Disneyland Hotel, just over the main entrance to the park. This is a buffet dinner, with plenty of food to suit children and has the added advantage of being visited by various Disney characters whilst you eat! The look on the faces of the youngsters when they look up from their plates to see their heroes standing over them is worth the cost on its own. And to top it all if you get the right sitting you can watch the evening firework display from the comfort of your own table. Finally outside the park is the Disney Village - which stays open even after park closing. Here you'll find a multiscreen cinema and IMAX (although bizarrely they rarely have films on in English), Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and many restaurants including Planet Hollywood and the Rainforest Café. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy a kid-friendly meal whilst you let the traffic from the parks die down.
